There is a Want It Now post on Ebay and the person is asking for clothes that Nellie wore when she worked at a factory and was a maid for the Rylands. I know nothing about Nellie and was wondering if anyone had some pictures form Nellie's or Samantha's books that would have pictures of what Nellie wore at the factory and the Ryland's. I can compare the pictures with the patterns and materials I have to see if I can make something to suit Nellie for that time period. I know I can't make anything for her in a timely manner since I have so many orders to do right now, but I still want to try it since it sounds like fun.

I don't have any picture scans right now, but check out www.dolliesdressmaker.com. They make "before" dresses for Nellie, and maybe you can get an idea.

You might be able to sell Nellie book outfits to others, too. I myself am going to make at least one of Nellie's dresses from "Nellie's Promise" (I already made her nightgown from that book [img]smile.gif[/img] ). And if I weren't so cheap I'd buy some pre-made...meh, if there was a good price maybe I'd buy anyway... [img]redface.gif[/img]

It shows all the full-page illustrations but doesn't show any of the little vignettes that are sprinkled throughout the text.
Amazon also has a brief passage from the beginning of the book, with a nice vignette of the pretty winter coat and hat Nellie wears. (edit: I'd always thought it was a hat, but on second glance, it's just a hairbow!)

Ah, then Jenifer, if you want the vignette pictures (I think it would just be the athletic uniform that Nellie doesn't like at all, and her nightgown) just PM me! (Can also scan the outfit Nellie's in when she's waving to Samantha, who's going to school, but it looks a lot like her party dress, and we just see the top half, from the back. [img]tongue.gif[/img] )
I am going to make the Settlement House outfit, which I am calling Nellie's Work Dress. The sailor-type outfit might come later. I would strongly consider buying her car duster/jacket if someone made it correctly.
